Uniting eight leading trade, technology and professional bodies within engineering services, Actuate UK needed a new identity that would capture the spirit and aims of the organisation.

THE IDEA
The idea was built from a dynamic line that became the guiding thread of the organisation. It’s never static. From it’s starting point as the letter ‘A’ in the word mark, it could be manipulated into different shapes and forms, representing movement and change but with singular purpose.


DIGITALLY FLEXIBLE
From a simple starting point, the line flexed and morphed as needed. Simple framing devices held industry imagery; graphic icons helped drive key messaging and a stylised speech bubble emphasised the organisation’s thought-leadership and unified voice.



BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER
We gave the Actuate UK team all the tools they needed to take the new identity and really roll with it. A comprehensive guideline gave advice and guidance on how to use and apply it in the real world, including imagery, typography, tone of voice and colour.




EVOLVING AND ADAPTING
Since the new identity launched, we’ve worked closely with the team to bring it to life. An animated version of their Manifesto has provided a great platform to show and share their goals for the future, united around four key areas. And with the new Building Safety Act brought in post-Grenfell, we’ve worked closely with the team to help articulate what this means for their members and the wider industry.
